Skiathos

 

 

 

Much of pine covered Skiathos is blessed with wonderful beaches of golden sand. It is not a wander the island of Skiathos is one of Greece’s most popular resorts. The island has only one town that is also the island’s port: Skiathos town set on the southeast coast. The north coast is precipitous and less accessible. Most people come to the Skiathos for the beaches and the nightlife, but the truly curious will discover some picturesque walks, hidden valleys and quiet beaches.
Skiathos town has twin harbours divided by the islet of Bourtzi, which is accessible through a narrow causeway. There are more than 60 beaches on the islands including Koukounaries that is one of the most famous and the nudist Banana beach at the end of island for visitors with naturist lifestyle; the beach of Agia Paraskevi, instead , is ideal for families. Apart from the sandy and pebbled stretches there are also several bays and harbours.
The island is connected to the mainland by hydrofoil and ferry leaving daily from Agios Costantinos, Thessaloniki and Volos.
